The Process
The process of installing a prefab building begins with thorough site preparation. This includes clearing the land, laying a concrete foundation or piers, and ensuring that all essential utilities—like water lines, septic systems, and electrical connections—are in place and correctly positioned. If the property isn’t connected to municipal services, components like wells and septic tanks will need to be installed during this phase. It’s also critical to secure all necessary permits and meet local zoning and building code requirements before the building arrives.
While the site is being prepared, construction of the modular unit is taking place in Afripanel’s advanced manufacturing facility. Interior walls are framed, and wiring and plumbing systems are pre-installed, allowing for faster assembly once the unit reaches your property. This is known as the preliminary prep stage, where the essential mechanical, electrical, and plumbing elements are laid out to align with your floor plan.
Next comes the installation of insulation and interior sheathing—such as drywall or plasterboard—providing energy efficiency and comfort.
